The title alone might give you an incite as to my position on the subject matter. What constitues a professional journalist? Going to school? Getting hired by a "professional paper"? Or is is simply someone who got lucky and gets paid to report the world happenings.
With the progression of technology and its easliy accesible nature, journalism can be executed by anyone from anywhere, and its great to hear that its more than a one sided opinion where the source could possibly be manipulated through such tactics as lobbying and PR.
In my opinion, early pioneers of journalism created a standard of journalism to make it seem like its a difficult thing to do. This concept is supplemented with the advent of "A.P. Style." Obviously, its just my opinion and not a concrete argument, but it is quite funny to see that with more and more amateur journalism surfacing, the real journalists are getting bitter.

Well put Mike. You certainly have thought about this issue from more than one perspective. Keep it up! I look forward to seeing this kind of candid input in your blog.
